Hello everyone,

last week I spent three days on the Albula line between Thusis and St. Moritz. Here is a short report for everyone who likes mountains and narrow gauge.

Day 1: Thusis to Filisur
The Landwasser Viaduct is just as impressive as in all the pictures. There is a viewing platform with a short walk from Filisur station. Go early, it gets busy around noon.

Day 2: the spiral tunnels
Between Bergün and Preda the line climbs through several spiral tunnels. I walked the railway hiking trail. It takes about three hours and you see the trains on four different levels.

Day 3: Bernina pass
Not part of the Albula line, but I could not resist. Snow on the peaks, larches already golden.

For my layout I took a lot of photos of stone walls and retaining walls. These are the details that make a mountain layout believable.

Wonderful report, Anna! The spiral tunnels between Bergün and Preda inspired my own shadow station design. Did you see any of the old Ge 6/6 locomotives on the line?

Those stone walls are a perfect reference for weathering. Looking forward to your photos in the gallery!
